Re: Smugmug Speed and Browsing Experience
To follow up, I'm now trying this at home. Speedtest to San Jose: 1407 download 224 upload I don't have a concept as to how fast this is but it does look much slower than my office. Browsing my gallery now takes about 2 -2 1/4 seconds to go between pictures on the Smugmug style gallery. I'm admitedly not being too… -
Re: Are your uploaded files darker than the originals?
Right now I'm looking at the Ice Eggs prints - one Auto and one True - 3 ft under a 33" soft box with a 55W CFL bulb at 5000K. The Auto is about 1/3 to `1/2 "stop" too light, IMO, as it's losing highlights. (looks pretty good in dimmer light, however). The True is looking like a "dark and stormy night" - about 2/3 to 1… -
Re: Laptop Display for Photo Editing
Yes, pretty much all the same things as a good desktop monitor.... The first is an IPS tft LCD panel so you don't have to deal with the off angle viewing issues found with the TN tft panels used in most laptops. There seems to be a typical TN panel found in budget laptops and a premium TN panel found in better quality… -
Re: Pricelists are here!
Hi, I've never posted before but this pricing topic has got my full attention. I ended up rather frustrated last night as I tried to work with the pricing. Re: Did SM do some coding changes?
OK then... First, I fully agree with what Mike Lane says, that it's much easier to design with stylesheets than fiddling about with tables. You really should learn. The offer stands, come over to the Desktop Publishing Forum and we'll help you get started. Free and friendly, just like here (and they're using vBulletin as… -
Chapter 11 - Retouching in LAB - Late and Incomplete
I loved the next to last paragraph in Chapter 11...... The author states, "I have tried to point out some of the areas in which retouching in LAB is superior to more customary alternatives. IF you followed every example, pat yourself on the back, because most experts would not be able to. For sure, you should not be upset… -
