Re: Andy's Un-Official Unsolicited Mac Advice Thread
I spent my first few years learning & repairing valve amplifiers with the military. I think you will find that valves & their use originated way way before 1942. More like the early 1900's. My job as an 18 year old nobody was to start one of these up for the sonar every morning. It used to scare the living bejebus out of… -

I see the new ones have a mini-DVI connector and require a separate adapter to connect your external monitor Just out of curiosity, why are you going to use Parallels if you are going to 'go native' with CS3? I just did the switch from CS2 on a PC to CS3 on a MacBook Pro and after signing and faxing the LODs Adobe only… -

Video capture of WhereIsIt... Okay, I am probably beating a dead horse, but I am sitting in Chicago's O'Hare Airport on a layover. I actually had to use WhereIsIt to grab some stuff from the office so figured I would snag a video capture... I can't quite figure out how to embed the video, so here is a link… -

I use mail for gmail and 's mobile me. I used the hints from this site : link to map the gmail sent, drafts, trash, folders to the folders in mail. This made it much easier to use. I setup rules for sorting mail in the gmail web app so that regularly received emails are pre-sorted into folders (labels on gmail). You can… -

Re: Andy's Un-Official Unsolicited Mac Advice Thread
Hi Ann, I'm in a similar boat. I've got a PC desktop dying a slow death and am about ready to get a new Mac. With the Leopard announcement, they also mentioned that anyone buying a Mac this month gets Leopard for $10 (S/H of a CD) so no need to wait for that. That being said, there are lots of rumors of new machines to be… -

MacBook Air + Flash = HOT computer. So I have read various other forums, and it appears that Adobe Flash is the culprit as far as I can tell. Websites with embedded Flash (most sites that my daughter visits for online games (Bella Sara, PBS Kids, etc.) cause the processor(s) to greatly heat up, the cooling fan kicks in,… -

For me, Lion was the inevitable "next step" with respect to Mac operating systems. iCloud? Sort of the same thing. What it does long term allows for many cool things. Some of which we haven't seen yet--and that's what's most interesting to me. I have to say that Jobs' appearance at the Cupertino City Council meeting was…
