Re: Hodgepodge of faves from a BUSY fall! :)
Lynne, It's really nice to see you posting again. I was begining to wonder what had happened to you. Nice to find out that it's just that you are so busy shooting! Now for some no sugar-coated critic (watch out :D ) #1 This is just a cool shot, very gritty. I'm thinking the young lady will love this. I wonder what the… -
Re: how do i rename photos in an Xp file
Excellent, Bridge should easily do just about anything you need. First sort the images the way you want them in Bridge, from the view menu, you can also sort them manually by dragging them into position. I typically sort by Date Created (actually I use EXIF renamer to do that, but it just complicates my life), the manual… -
Re: practice w/ off cam flash and umbrella
Okay, so I did a little shoot, in the night, next to the Big Pun mural in the Bronx. At first I was a little skeptical on using the camera's sync speed with the flash as the main. Here are a couple of the highlights. #1 #2 #3 So here is what I learned from this. As many of the more experienced photographers here said. The… -
Re: Online backup: Carbonite?
I recently evaluated Mozy and Carbonite and went with Mozy. Both cost the same, but I think Mozy is available for more platforms (Mac, Win) than Carbonite (Win). Carbonite has a free 14-day trial while Mozy has a free 2 gigabyte account. The only worthwhile advantage I found in Carbonite over Mozy is that it integrates… -
Re: In the Maze
Not so much in that immediate area per se, but the last 14-1/2 years, all over the Mojave Desert and the mountains around it. Starting tomorrow on a photo project of a somewhat local scenic highway that I want to take my time on through the summer. I figure it'll be nice to work up there when it gets hot. It was about 90… -
Re: [Newborn]: Theresa Ellen - C&C wanted
Thank you very much. I would be happy to share my setup. 1. Did you use a flash at all or was it all natural light?* Photo #1 was natural. There are three big windows to the right of the camera. The newborn is laying perpendicular to the windows to create some dramatic shadows. Plus the reflection worked better this way. *… -
Re: Your best B&W Conversion
Steps Okay, here're the steps I followed. These faces were so compelling, I wanted to do something more than just adjust shadows and highlights. I admit that i read a bit more into the image than might have been there in the original; on the other hand, the original is so flat, it's just begging for a creative enhancement.… -
Re: My observations about this "Street & PJ" forum
I second Liz's observations. I will confess, btw, that I too have typed up a detailed critique then deleted it. Looking back at some of the photographs I took with my first digital point & shoot 10 years ago, when everything I saw was suddenly new and interesting and, most of all, photo worthy to my eyes, I mourn the loss… -
Re: So can I not export from Lightroom?
The in-depth answer: Lightroom upload performance is driven by a number of factors. When publishing from Lightroom, a temporary JPEG copy of your image is rendered prior to upload - the rendering time is driven by your local system performance (CPU, memory and disk). The time then taken to upload the image is then a factor… -
