Re: Ultra-wide angle lens for Nikon FX?
True, I meant 1/4 the focal length of a standard lens. The Sigma 12-24mm does provide 122 degrees at 12mm (I was thinking it was more). I regard the term "ultra" as more extreme than "super", and so, in my parlance the progression would be: Wide-Angle, approximately 1/2 the focal length of normal Super Wide-Angle,… -
FS: Sigma 12-24 f/4.5-5.6
A little cosmetic wear (The signature sigma 'rubber coating rub off') but otherwise clean, in perfect working order and optically as good as new. http://www.sigmaphoto.com/shop/12-24mm-f45-56-ex-dg-asp-hsm-sigma It's an EX lens and it's a 'good copy' that I've had for years. It's built for FF but really shines of DX.… -

Re: ATTN: Acratech and Kirk Users
I second the Arca Swiss Z1. I have been using it for a couple of years now and love it. It is rated to carry 122 lbs., well beyond the rating of your tripod. When I was shopping I had my list down to the Arca Swiss and the Markins that a friend had picked up. The Markins is also rated at close to 100 lbs. Here is the… -

Re: Quantaray Clear UV Protector = bad photos!
This is an example of the "get what you pay for" photo gear truism. While the Quantaray filters may be manufactured by Hoya, that brand name certainly is not respected. I'd personally try to just return them as defective. For filters the best are generally considered Heliopan->B+W->Hoya in that order. You always want the… -

Re: Need help with telephoto.
The VR is not the only difference in the VR version if the 70-300. The optical quality is on a totally different plane.
