Re: Andy's Un-Official Unsolicited Mac Advice Thread
I'm reaching back here (and I'm sure someone will correct me on the actual technical details) but long long ago, around the Win95 days, FAT16 could only address a hard drive volume (partition) that did not exceed 2GB. But hard drives were avaibable in 4-8 GB in size. So you HAD to partition the drive, otherwise anything… -

This is CS3's fault, not Apple. You'll need 2 things: 1) turn off the default icon/thumbnail creation in CS3 Photoshop > Preferences > File Handling... there under "File Saving Options" uncheck "Icon" for sure, I have them all unchecked, and I don't remember what default is, but I know the Icon is what gives you the crap… -
Re: Andy's Un-Official Unsolicited Mac Advice Thread
From a quick Google search, it looks like Apple is putting Intel chips into the Mac Pro's.... Well Okay, I can live with my current order if that and a new case are the only differences. I am coming from an OLD PC, it is an Athlon XP2400. So I am LITERALLY DOUBLING my processor speed, plus going to 64bit, plus getting a… -
Re: Andy's Un-Official Unsolicited Mac Advice Thread
Rutt, Others probably have better advice but since I hate a cluttered desk top and use Firefox I'll make a suggestion, I have done this since my first net days (PC now Mac). In my home folder I make a folder called download(s) and direct the browser to put everything that comes off the net into that folder. Keeps the desk… -

One app that I love is TextExpander, which uses iSync to synchronize settings across Macs. But iSync wasn't working. So, I had to… -

Re: Andy's Un-Official Unsolicited Mac Advice Thread
It's taken me all this time to figure out that CatOne has steered me wrong. (And he's usually so right!) Actually, I'm sure it's just a matter of taste, but I think I'm in love with 1Password. What got me to try it was the iPhone implementation, which while far from perfect (no landscape view in the browser!!!), is a real… -

Yet another Mac newbie thread Alright. So I'm just about to jump over to the world of Apple and need two pieces of advice. My plan, after much contemplation, is to purchase the Macbook 13" 2.16 GHz in white. I'll upgrade the ram on my own after purchase. My questions are about external storage and monitors. 1. External… -
Re: Andy's Un-Official Unsolicited Mac Advice Thread
