Jumping In - Head First
I'll preface this post with a little background on myself. I'm 18, just out of high school. Not that it matters, but I am taking the GED test in 10 days; Didn't do the regular diploma route due to circumstances beyond my control. Anyway, I find myself with a lot of free time (between jobs). Photography and Post Processing… -
Re: A Fast Lens
You've gotten a lot of great advice with respect to the EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 IS and some other lenses. Let me throw you some curve balls :D* EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 IS - This is my goto lens for almost all indoor work, epecially events (parties, etc) where light is at a premium. I don't use it so much for studio work (see next item).… -
Re: Any thoughts on Olympus?
I won't claim to be any kind of gear expert but I will give you a different opinion (everyone's got one right?). It seems to me that in the world of interchangeable lens cameras, it's more about the lens system than the camera body. (ok, not 100% true in digital these days.) With that in mind, I will say that I'm very… -
Re: 50mm ASPH Summilux f/1.4 shots
You can see more pics from the 'lux by clicking here. The pics of him sleeping were taken at f/1.4 with a yellow filter. A small 60watt bulb lit the room. I think the shutter speed was 1/30. The camera? I love it. My previous cameras were a D30 & D60. I had a bunch of lenses (28-135 USM,70-200L, 100mm macro, etc) and loved… -
Re: Getting a camera cleaning
Dust-bunnies on a DSLR sensor is a fact of life. I evaluate the condition of mine before every major shoot (wedding, engagement, etc). If I can see anything when I stop down to f/8, then it's time to clean it. But, I don't take it anywhere. I do it myself and save myself the time and frustration of dealing with others. It… -
Re: Slighly out-of-focus action shots with Canon XTi
I did some experimentation with the different focal points today. I ran a 10k race, and then shot some of the runners still in it and those doing some "cool down" slow easy running. Using the Digital Rebel XTi and 70 - 200 mm f/4L lense, I shot one set with the head as the focal point (top point in vertical orientation)… -
Re: Seeking Comments & Criticism
First - as has been said, I think you have every right to be quite happy and proud of these photos. I KNOW the B&G will be quite pleased. A general comment - watch your composition. There are a large number of "bulls-eyed" shots in these sets. Here's a blow-by-blow:* Beautiful exposure and good focus. Probably have way too… -
Re: full frame vs medium format
Hand up for Yes - I own use a digital MF format (Pentax 645D if anyone hadn't already guessed :p). As for the Audiophile comparison - I have to disagree to a point. Print A0 or larger straight from any DSLR and compare that to a print from a MF camera and I reckon most people will see a difference straight away, it's just… -
Re: Balkan Express
The Rhine The Rhine and its adjoining areas are dotted with wonderful elements of European history; from the violence and insecurity of its distant feudal past to its more refined elegance which peaked in the late 19th century, but vrutally dissapeared early in the 20th. Mannheim First mentioned in 766 AD, My fair city,… -
Re: dance school packages
This topic interests me as I've taken the photos at my daughters dance studio. I don't really consider myself a professional photographer mostly because I don't shoot for a living....more a full time artist. Having gotten that out of the way, before I did my first shoot 2 or 3 years ago, I searched and searched to find…
