Re: Show us your business Card!
Jeremy I posted because I read every single 101 pages of this thread and as stated in my very first line you would see I posted this because of the idiot who smashed eveyone on this site thats why I said what i did in the first part of my post. Again I find it amazing that you would call me a liar with regards to my card… -
Re: IR wthout filters???
No, with digital cameras (or film) that are sensitive to visible light, you cannot take infra-red photos without an infra-red filter. The regular image will always supersede any infra-red image. So you definitely need a filter to cut away the visible light---an IR filter, that is. However some digital cameras are better… -
Re: How to Price your photos
The problem comes with too many photographers believing that the photography business is somehow special or that standard business 101 principles do not apply. As a photographer, you are offering a service first, and a product second. It truly is as simple as that. If a new store opens in your town, do they discount the… -

Perhaps this should have gone in technique, but since it's people orientated, I've put it here (mods, feel free to move if better sited elsewhere). Once you've learned enough to know how it "ought to be done", how do you go back to capturing efficient snapshots that DON'T just stick the camera on auto and use direct… -

Re: No respect for studio?
Jim, I think a lot of this is regional/generational. I look at my High School yearbook (and cringe) and see all of the senior shots were studio, with one of two backdrops (blue/green or tan/brown multi). When I was in school, that was the only choice. A few years later, they opened up to allow seniors to bring in their own… -
Re: Question about flashes
I use flash all the time. Your camera controls like shutter speed, aperture, and ISO only adjust the exposure of your shot. You cannot use them to put light where you want it to be. With a flash you can do just that. Think of looking at someone on a sunny day with the sun behind them. Their face is in shadow. You can see… -
Re: Light Sphere vs Studio Lighting on extremely low budget
Have you been reading The Strobist blog? Soooo many of the things you're asking about are covered in extreme depth there - his entire pov is "how to do this on the cheap, but with predictable, quality, professional results". Yeah, it's kind of heavy sledding getting through THAT much information at first - I'm only just… -
