Re: Mac suggestion's
I switched to Mac over a year ago, and it wasn't painful at all. I went with an iMac 24", which got me the larger LCD, as well as a very good LCD (it is an IPS screen). Of course the computer is just fine. I purchased a copy of VMWare Fusion, and used that to copy my Windows machine to the Mac in its entirety. That way, no… -

Re: How would I do this?
Hi Joe! My name is Christina and I'm a Support Hero at SmugMug but, I'm also an equine photographer. I found your site listed in a customization thread so, I took a peek at what you're doing. (I'm also in Maryland, so pretty close to a lot of the events you've photographed!) I see that you are using categories but, you… -
Re: DSS #30 Unofficial Feedback Thread - Envorinmental Portrait
Its great to see the history behind the shots as Jennifer and Jeff have shared. So I thought I would give you the run down on my shot. Basically its a pretty straight forward shot...my lil one who is the joy of my life and often the object of my photos is such a chatter box and she had just gotten off the phone when I… -

Re: CRT vs. LCD Monitor
OK.... now we're getting to where I can suggest a monitor. $300 is pretty much the bottom end for a decent LCD monitor with either an IPS or PVA type TFT panel. But there are some good products there that are very usable. In particular, the Dell 2209WA has been getting rave reviews the past year. It is probably the best… -
Re: Where to sell amateur photos on-line ?
Hi Elviz, about your questions... Hi Elviz, Right now I'm working with four sites that read IPTC information at upload time. They are BigStockPhoto, DreamsTime, iStock and ShutterStock. BigStockPhoto is the newest one, and it looks like it will work fine. Check the blog again and you'll see the latest statistics I… -
Re: Huey Pro seems to have gone mental
Edit this. You got me thinking of army marching chants now. I found this link to be the first thing informative to possibly fix all of the settings that I may have screwed up. To the OP... go to www.pantone.com and download the latest driver. I found that when I first experience color differences on my Huey... downloading… -
Re: I'm still here, a few recent images
your responses have really touched me To each and everyone of you that replied, you have encouraged me more than you can imagine. Jeff, aren't you doing a photography project for someone facing a similar future? A bit ironic isn't it. I did some portraits of him 3 years ago that turned out really sad but we thought he was… -
Re: Nikon D700
Nikon, for the past 4 years (D3 generation) has named all their cameras with an odd number. D5100, D3100, D7000, etc. After August 24th, for the next four years they will name their cameras with even numbers. So there will be a D4, D800, and D400 (that's my guess). The D7000 replacement should be called the D8000, though…
