Re: The Car Talk Thread
Thanks. Nah, I hate car forums. Spent way too much time on them when I was first getting into modding. Only time I use them now is if I'm looking for a specific bit of info. You can't tell in the pics but I'm running 275/30/19 on all four corners with a TC Kline D/A coilover set-up and the Brembo GT 4 wheel kit. The wheels… -

That was the Dakar 2004 in Nouakchott. I travelled with one of your Iron butt organisers. He was in his 60's but a great character and we had an amazing time. He was very laid back and took the whole thing in his stride. I'm taking three women this time up to Atar, two from the US and a Canadian. It's good to see such… -
Re: The Car Talk Thread
After reading DrIt's replies, I think I might have answered the wrong question before. Mali-blew vs Ranger or S10?! Uh, no question, I'd rather drive the pickup.. But then again, I DO!! Rangers go for pennies on the dollar right now between the gas prices and old design that nobody wants. S10's are probably similar.… -
Re: The Car Talk Thread
Yeah 350whp. The engine doesn't have forged internals, so the highest recomended boost is 6psi. With forged internals we could go 15psi but why push it? 7psi is a 50% gain so 12psi is about a 75% gain. Take out the drive train loss and add the increased fow to the head and its about 350whp. Dunno if 70 extra hp is worth… -

For ol' Blue (my hot-rodded 1985 Benz S-Class). Cost, wear, bah humbug! I'm actually thinking I may go with the Toyo T1R. Cooper dealer said he couldn't in good conscience sell me the Coopers. I didn't look into it but I figure the Kelly is not going to be any better. The Goodyear is the best tire in the list I think, but… -

Ian: if you've already got the upgraded 18's on your A4, be very, very careful going wider. If you do, please spend the money and have it done right. I know this from experience: the engineers of cars such as this get a bit of leeway when it comes to the upgrades. The company will tolerate just about any extreme. In other… -
Re: The Car Talk Thread
I'll drink to that (well...no...cause I don't drink). You have a Benzworld username? This is kinda my idea of what would be "better" exemplified http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w126-s-se-sec-sel-sd/1282301-my-new-toy.html Only, I would want it to have leather, not a blacked out grill, have the pre-1986 interior, and not… -
Re: The Car Talk Thread
Isn't the price around $100k on that? Meaning it would have to compete with the 911 Turbo (which it can't). Either way, honestly, faster may be one thing, but there is nothing that can kill a 911 in the sense of killing it's appeal. A 911 is all in the way it handles (not necessarily the best handling, but it is certainly… -
Re: The Car Talk Thread
Here's my daily driver. It's a 1995 Saab 900 S (non-turbo, 5-speed) with 196,600 on the clock as of this morning. I paid $1,500 for it a year ago December 31 and I've put around 20,000 miles on it since. I took this photo after I'd driven it down to Hershey PA from Vermont last year with a bad clutch. It made it down there… -
Re: The Car Talk Thread
I just don't like the CL, and it's quite cramped in the back. Does he really need the room, if so, why not go right to the S? The latest one is pretty good looking, IMO. Or if he doesn't always need the room for 4, the AMG'ed E class just took top honors when compared to the M5 and S6. 4 people fit quite comfortably in…
