Re: Cindy 2
I'm no where near as experienced as the rest, but I like to attempt to help when I can because I know how much I appreciate it no matter how experienced the person on here is. And anyone please don't hesitate to correct me if I'm wrong, being wrong helps me learn lol. In that, I have to say that to me, #3 is my favorite… -
Re: Wow! I need a new monitor!
Don't bother - a 6bit "TN" panel, suspect sRGB coverage, viewing angle issues Not too bad a choice but be aware that it is a "Wide Gamut" monitor. Do you work in the AdobeRGB or ProPhotoRGB color spaces? If you don't, then stick to a standard sRGB color space monitor. Your life will be a lot simpler and less stressful.… -
Re: Dancing with the Clouds [Warning: 9 colorful images]

Here is one of the Exif Data: Nikon D70 Focal Length: 19mm Optimize Image: Custom Color Mode: Mode Ia (sRGB) Long Exposure NR: Off 2005/06/19 20:34:16.9 Exposure Mode:… -
Re: google search
Hi Duck, Obviously I hit a nerve with the help page I wrote and I'm sorry if my words were offensive to you. I hope that I can clear the air concerning my intent in writing that help page. I completely understand your concern regarding privacy for your family and children. I think that SmugMug is a very safe place for… -
Re: 2006: post shooutout
Draft #1 Kudbegud suggested that 10 extra days Kud Be Too Gud (in his own words, "you would need another vacation after this one"). So inasmuch I'd love to take the lake trip, it seems to be an overkill both financially and logistically. So we trimmed our appetite, made it 7 days long (flying out Sunday May 28th from Las… -
Re: Printer decision
I do a lot of onsite as well as some high end printing for portrait work. Presently I have 14 ( yes, fourteen) Canon printers in 3 different models and an Epson. I bought the epson for a specific feature ( which canon now has) and while I can't fault it's print quality although I don't think it's quite as good as the… -
Re: Guide to determine new Print Prices
I have never seen a calculator and I wouldn't use one if there was. Heres my quick and easy calculator for those who can't put a value on their work..... Think of the very lowest price you'd tolerate but not be all together happy with. Think of what you would be absoloutley stoked with ( within reason.) Average the 2 and… -
Pricing Threads
I know this will probably put some peoples noses out of joint but I have watched this for so long and can't contain saying something any longer. These endless pricing threads astound me and I can't stand them anymore. They seem to be on every photo forum at least every 2nd day. I honestly don't get them other than to show… -
Photos seen as fair game for humor, bad politics
By Katie Hafner NEW YORK TIMES NEWS SERVICE March 22, 2004 When John Knoll created Photoshop in 1989, he knew he was designing an image-editing program that could be used in good ways and bad. Yet even Knoll, who wrote the software with his brother, Tom, was unprepared for how outlandish photo manipulation would become.… -
More LAB explorations
As a color retoucher, I, unlike most of you on this site, have no control over the images that i have to work on, and, truth is, despite the usual skin-tone, color cast and contrast issues, the images here are uniformly superior to anything I see in the professional ad world. Most look like they've come from the discount…
