Re: Conversion to B&W....
The point of the stripes is that every B&W conversion involves making decisions. There can be no single correct way to make these conversions. If I knew a little more about the fotomatic filter, I'm sure I could doctor the stripes so that it would render them all the same color (unless it is much smarter than I think it… -

Re: Pentax K100D and K110D
You are kidding, right? The K1000 ceased production in 1997. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentax_K1000) Based on the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis inflation calculator, $100 USD in 1997 would be around $126 now. http://minneapolisfed.org/research/data/us/calc/ A roll of film and processing costs between $15-20,… -

I'm John, I'm 56, born and bred in Lincoln in the East of England, with 10 year old twins. I got my first camera, a Kodak 126, when I was about 13. My first SLR , an Olympus OM10, came along when I was about 25. I trained as a geologist, but spent most of my adult life as a social worker, yep, a strange combination I know.… -
Re: Color to B&W Digital Darkroom Assignment for the Week: 4/16-4/23
Color theory in B+W conversion Here is a very simple color to b+w excercise. Consider this image: Here's what happens when PS converts it to grayscale: Not very nice, eh? What's going on? Although the colors of the stripes are very different, I chose them carefully to have identical luminosity, using photoshop's luminosity… -

Re: New external hardrives.
The best prices I've seen are almost ALWAYS at Costco. I believe my studio just recently purchased two 3 TB drives for just $106 or something like that. $126? Either way, you just can't beat the price. Personally, I prefer G-Technology for quality, but still I've worked with plenty of WD mybooks and smaller portable… -
Re: please critique my first wedding set
first wedding set. I hope the following is helpful...I looked at your website and it is very good. Okay, here goes. Picture composition and coverage is good. However, you have some glaring errors. First being that the white balance is off in some of the shots. White clothes look blue or gray (off white)...custom white… -

How old am I? .. Where do I live? Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada until September and then who knows.... I consider myself a Texan having lived all but 5 years of my life there. My family? Re: Assignment #4: Stone
I'm confused, Which Stone? I googled 'stone' and top listing is "1 stone = 6.35029318 kilograms" So should I shoot something that is 14 pounds? Does that include something that cost 14 pounds? If I shoot something 28 pounds would that be something that is too stoned? If I shoot pebbles, wouldn't Fred and Wilma get mad?…
