Re: Viet Nam 2008 - A Wedding and Family Visit
My first night sleep out in the country wasn't the most pleasant, but considering how tired I was, laying down with a fan on high was pleasing that is until I would roll over on the bed. I woke up thinking it was around 8 or 9, but it was more like 5:30am! I decided getting up early before everyone else would be the best… -
Re: travel tripod
Here is my setup I wanted a very lightweight tripod for travel and for boonie tromping. My standard travel camera/lens setup is two cameras with a 17-55mm f/2.8 IS and a 70-200mm f/4L IS lens. The last lens, occasionally wearing a 1.4x TC, is the heaviest package that I place on my travel tripod. I looked into a set of… -

Re: Just a teeny little rant....
Wow.... I just got married in April and if those were my photos, I'd be livid if I paid more than $100 for em. ... Luckily I hired a good professional who delivered 700 photos that were all pretty amazing! She was worth every penny! Granted I spent over $3k. So do you have any idea what was paid for these photos.. everyone… -
Re: Tips for photographing fireworks- Need help quick!
I'm not sure I can offer any more than the links that Andy posted. I've read all of those and I still had some troubles my first go around (there is a minor league ball team here that has had fireworks 2 times in the past 2 days and more tomorrow!). So here's what I can say based upon my experience in the last two days. 1)… -
Re: Newbie here, would love some advice!
Ok so I should look for a film camera (*edit* - AF film camera) with an EF lens mount (is that for all brands, or only Canon?). I've altered my prince range quite a bit so that I can save money for a better camera (digital or film) once I know what my preferences are. I think I would now like to stay right around a $100 so… -

Re: Lighting for Candids
With much respect... well, candids and portraits are two different things. You seem to be using these images as examples of good portraiture, and I don't think they are. I've seen you do this in a number of different threads. This is a decent candid, though a little overprocessed and crispy looking for my taste. Fine if… -
Re: Sure you see this all the time..
I think that what he was trying to say was the selective color method does not work with #2. In all honesty it kind of creeped me out. First off welcome to the forum. You will get a lot of help here for sure! Here are my thoughts. First numbering the photos makes it a lot easier to leave comments. Second your watermark is… -
Re: Street - heavily processed
First of all, it wasn't an "attack". It was a pointed commentary about images in this forum that are not the type of image we normally expect to see in this forum. It was in response to the "...but this is a 'Documentary' forum - and there is nothing 'documentary' about photo illustration...". I agree that the image in…
