Re: Background and hair lights
A black background can stay black or very dark grey unless it is just slammed with light......also a lot of the "old masters" had hotspots in their shots...now bg companies are putting hotspot in the bg's for the bg light to be aimed at..... as to hiding the bg light...that was neigh impossible with my WL5000's and is hard… -
Re: Someone Help! (College Portfolio)
One man's thoughts Keepers 2 - I like the composition, contrast, and the lighting. 4 - Same as 2. 6 - Strong composition 7 - barely a keeper. Good composition, color is poor, but still interesting enough. 10 - 50/50 on the composition, vertical might help, but strong none the less. 11 - Nice visual action, and the… -
Re: overexposure vs. lower ISO
Scott, I think the point was that "JPGs" are not 16 bit. If you use 16 bit TIFFs in sRGB, you still have a pretty large Gamut, but not as large as some of the other algorithms. If your intent is only digital printing or Internet capable files, sRGB is plenty good for images. (SmugMug only uses sRGB, for instance.) If you… -
Re: Owner view/ visitor view problem
FYI when I say "visitor view" the screen is presented as if i am just a guest. There is no smugmug "owner view" at the top of the screen to press. FYI - No "cooking blasting code" Okay, did the following on "two different computers". Both acted the same way. 1) Deleted cache 2) Deleted all cookies 3) went to… -
Re: Pet photography help
haha (plain brown envelope + contents in the post) Well, a short story to judge whether I'm a fit person to take any notice of ... Recently gave my first ever presentation to a U3A* photography group who wanted to see the kit I use as well as some pics - I sorted out about 120 for an hour or so yak. Spent the first 15 - 20… -
Re: Using 3 lights, tonights BB game
I have used SBs off the ceiling - no one noticed. I now use an Einstein bounce off the ceiling (sometimes one on each side of the court). I had the first comment this last week when the tip of the flash reflector was about at the ref's head level (it was tilted toward the court) - but even then the ref didn't complain,… -
Re: Joy of Spring
These have only recently crossed my radar as I rarely trespass in the LSF. You've ticked many boxes here, imo - with the most important - by a long way - being the first in the mantra. I'll quote Peter Cairns' (wildlife) tip No 18, as it sums things up nicely here, too. //It’s an old cliche but it really is all about the… -
Re: Minimum laptop spec for running LR/CS+7d raw files?
I did. I underspecc'd myself a bit (again lol) but the price was so ridiculous that even if I only use it for 18 months I'll feel I had my money out of it: Costco special - Dell studio 15" with an i3 processor, currently with 6g ram (which I will expand to maximum capacity as soon as I can) 1tb hdd, and including licensed… -
Re: Needed-Blanket photo release form
Spinner, So you're needing a Blanket release for the event organizer? If I couldn't find one to suit me, I'd either do a review of the necessary disclaimers and make my own, or simply pony up a few bucks and get a lawyer to cover me with one. One thing comes to mind though. Actually more than one thing. Minor's. <18 yrs.… -
Re: Back Where I Belong with Ann Marie
this is a very nice set...all of them.... I am not going to pick on them as that has already been done. I have loved all of my past and present Sigma Lenses a 24-70f2.8 is a wonderful lens and the Sigma 70-200 is a great lens also ... ... ... I have heard horror stories of bad copies and such, however I have never…
