Re: 2011 Flavor of the Month Gallery and Blog
Just a little background about this photo: This is Esther and Refugio Tejada. They are my mother- and father-in law. For the last 30 years they have lived in a tiny home adjacent to a small Assemblies of God chapel in the barrio of National City (just south of downtown San Diego). For years I've wanted to take this photo,… -
Re: The Grand Canyon - North Rim and Toroweap
Second Journey I planned to show my buddy around to some of the remote backcountry and ride to some spots I haven't seen before. The day before the trip my buddy's off-road capable KTM broke down. He was able to borrow a street bike from his girlfriend. So I switched over to my sport-tourer and we decided to stay mostly on… -
Re: I am thrilled with the 5D3
I think it's ironic and funny how shooters have been deciding how in love they are with a camera before it even hits the shelves. Don't forget, both Canon and Nikon have a long history of serious imaging issues, from RF interference banding, to "err99" etc. etc. Oh and mirrors randomly falling out of cameras, that's a… -
Re: ? about sensor processing/encoding/filtering
Hmmm, I'm explaining this badly. No, I don't have LENR turned on, these are 60 second exposures with 1 second between exposures. Yes, the gaps are occurring because I am taking multiple images of a moving light, but the explanation is not that it is because of the one second between frames, or at least, that is not a… -
Re: 5D mk III back from CPS - some good/some bad
Dan- When the camera went in the first time, it had the focus adjusted as it was worse than my old 50D in AI servo mode. That was presumably rechecked on the second visit. One shot was set to focus AI servo testing was done on my own later. The first image was usually fine. It was the middle of the burst that would… -
Re: Processing Image Thumbnail never goes away
I'm probably not the only one, but I'm the only one that cares enough about SM to passionately let you know. Others would probably leave and find another solution that works. Remember that the feedback you're getting from the helpdesk and dgrin is probably 1/10th of the actual feedback out there. That's my experience… -

>>> 2.3 (Feathered or Scaled): Critique/Discussion Thread
In the new challenge format, we now have a week between shooting rounds to critique and discuss the photos, the topic, the weather... Ok, maybe not so much the weather, but the point is: this is a community driven thread! It's up to you all to use this week "off" constructively. As soon as the judges make their decisions,… -
Other new Sony Alpha body news...
Well since it's hasn't been posted over here I'll do it. Sony just relased specs on their new A300 and A350 bodies with a fully working Live View feature. SAN DIEGO, Jan. 30, 2008 – Sony is bringing live-view shooting to its digital SLR camera line with today’s introduction of a 14.2-megapixel a (alpha) DSLR-A350 camera… -
Can't decide...do I NEED any new hardware?
I'm torn and thought I would come here for someone to set me straight... I've now owned a dSLR (the Canon 350D) for 2 years. With it, I have the following lineup (with samples of what I take with them): Sigma 30mm f/1.4 Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 mk I Canon EF 70-210mm f/3.5-4.5 Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens I've spent…
