Re: D200 in stock at Circuit City online!
I've been on the waiting list for a D200 at my local camera store for quite a while now. I usually like to support my local retailers for ease of exchange, plus, I just like to support the little guy. They've had their cameras on order since November and have not received a single camera yet. I did finally get a chance to… -
Re: What would you charge?
Hi Josh I am not sure about a master list of posts, however here is my experience with youth T&I: My area still expects hard copy in the standard folio with 4x6 individual and 5x7 team photo. I do one neighborhoods soccer teams (10 or 12 teams, 10 - 18 players each, so somewhere > 100 kids) and their basketball teams (3 or… -
Re: Do what you have to....
I don't know how... ...but somehow I have survived just fine--so far--without any "L" glass: Canon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6, Canon 28mm f/1.8, Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8, and Canon 50mm f/1.4. I don't even find myself wishing for a 24-70 f/2.8L. However, I'm not yet very well covered on the wide or tele ends. On the wide end, there… -
Re: Newb Question
Hi Spectra, Welcome to the wonderful world of photography and to Dgrin. If you're serious about growing as a photographer, a dSLR is a must because it gives you so many more options with lenses, flashes, etc. As for whether or not you go with Canon or Nikon, you'll get many different opinions as most photographers are… -

Re: How did you get started?
In 1985 I was working a summer job offshore in the Gulf of Mexico on an oil platform and I decided to spend some of the good money (for a student) I was making on a fancy new Canon AE1 Program 35mm film camera. I returned to school the next fall and completed my Mechanical Engineering degree and then continued on to grad… -
Re: Seattle (lots o pics)
Thanks for the compliments! That first shot is a result of me wanting to get somewhat of a lomo/holga look. After the standard sharpening, mild contrast and color corrections in the RAW development (about 20 seconds, just to get it to look like what I saw) I took it over to GIMP. It's a little complicated at first, but… -
Re: Some dSLR questions
Hey Red, If I might suggest buying a used camera from the Buy/Sell Forum on www.fredmiranda.com.... if you're careful, you can get a 300D for a little over $600, with the kit lens. There's quite a bit of activity right now as people sell their Rebels to get a 20D. I assume you already have a card reader. If not, that's… -
Re: How he do it?
Looks like the basic technique is just exposing for the faces which causes the sky and much of the background to be overexposed. There's probably some post work, maybe to bring back some contrast but it's mostly in camera from what I can tell. One way to do this would be to put your camera in manual mode and switch to spot… -
