Re: The Car Talk Thread
Bah, you people have no drive. Fine, I'll just tell you, you imaginationless....I don't know...imaginationless somethings It's the 5.6 liter out of a 560 W126 mercedes (well...rebuilt, so not out of one really), euro OS2 pistons (10:1 compression and I forget exactly but it brings it to around 5.8 liters), a port and… -

If money is no object, I would scrap that list I gave except for the Mustang and the Lotus (the Sky and Solstice with the 260hp engines are nice for the money, but they have useless trunks - not just small but awkwardly designed - and they have 0 low and mid range torque. Lotus hard to find? I know a dealership in the DC… -
Re: The Car Talk Thread
No, I appreciate how hard it was to engineer, but I don't appreciate how all sorts of dumb shit most likely forced upon them by marketing (and the purchasing demographic of such a vehicle) that ruined it. My point in comparing it to the Dart was to show that any idiot can make a car go fast in a straight line. Yeah, it may… -
Re: The Car Talk Thread
When was the last time you priced a 911? Do you really think anyone buy's one for the base price? They are the most obscene option whores in the industry. A decently optioned 911 Carrera will push 90k without a hitch and optioned out to the level the R8 comes standard with will top 110k. The 911 is timeless, but it's also… -
Re: The Car Talk Thread
before we get too serious about a silly semantic argument... I too appreciate simplicity. remember I said we had the first Civic S(i) imported to the USA (1983)? Probably one of the best cars we ever owned. Fun, simple, reliable as all get-out. here, have a laugh, on me: yeah, that's me with the sweet technicolor… -
Re: The Car Talk Thread
Mate sorry but your dad has no possible idea what he is talking about. I can open up the valves on my BM in ...what ...under 2 mins with an allen key & then do the timing in a few mins more with a spanner on the end of the crank (another allen key job) after i flick out the rubber gromet to see the flywheel marker. Shaft… -
Re: The Car Talk Thread
I keep my cars for 8-10 years generally. I have a '92 Camry right now with 206K on it and it looks great except for the paint chips in the front. No matter how much I've tried to keep after them, they ended up rusting. I do a lot of highway driving and the sandblasting in winter is brutal. This replacement vehicle (Corolla… -

Re: The Car Talk Thread
Tell him to forget the 70's...it has nothing to do with now. Jap is fast/high consumables & reliable...BMW is much slower/much lower consumables & much more reliable. relatively speaking that is. Everything else lies inbetween & references the above 2 as flagstones in what a bike sould be...be that at either end of the… -
Re: The Car Talk Thread
I wish I would have found this thread earlier. Thanks to Erik (DoctorIT) I found my way here. I've been spending way too much time in that other forum, talkin' motorcycles. Anyway, my name is Doug, I work at Turner Motorsport in Amesbury, Mass. I have been here since 1995. I met Will Turner in the 4th grade. We went from a…
