Re: fall baseball - little guys
I use the 2.8 70-200 IS. I'm able to park myself in front of the dugout between home and first/third...but NEVER behind the base because this is where you will be nailed. I stay low to keep from loosing my head to a ball (I've had a few close calls--stay sharp, especially when you shoot older kids--the ball moves FAST!).… -
Re: Utterly, utterly stupid...
Interesting phenomenon I found with the recovered files. Of the 62 files recovered, 12 were damaged (block of rubbish in bottom right corner) and one was totally US (severe blue cast plus the block of rubbish in bottom right corner). DPP and Adobe's DNG converter refused to read these files at all. All other software… -
Re: Need some group therapy on lens selection
There is also option 4, which is to buy Tokina's 50-135mm f/2.8 lens. Their web site claims this model is available for both Canon and Nikon mount, but oddly, Amazon shows only the Nikon version. Not sure what's up with that. I haven't used this particular lens, but other Tokinas that I've had were quite good, though not… -
Re: Some advice please :D?
Looking at your two photos. The first one has a depth of a good 12-15 feet. Unless you are farther away (I'm assuming you are at about 4' from the front person) or have your aperture down in the f/22 or smaller arena, you aren't going to get 15' of clean focus. So you need to either pick your min shutter speed (Tv mode),… -
Re: Photoshop vs ?
Mentioning that you are Mac based is a big help! OK, well if you have an intel Mac and Leopard, you can use Bootcamp or other software to dual or multi boot into the Mac or Windows OS or other OS any time you like, or you can run Windows or other OS's at the same time inside the Mac OS with third party software. With MS… -
Re: Glacier Shootout - woulda shoulda -if only-
But it's a HUGE CF tripod and weighed a good bit more than my smaller, cheaper aluminium one. My bag weighed less, I had two bodies, four lenses, four batteries, assorted filters (most of which I didn't use, but I loved the grad ND)! On days when I didn't think we'd be shooting waterfalls or that I knew we'd be hiking long… -
Re: Specific tripod selections, narrowed down to three choices
I'd be looking at graphite, where only 8/10 lb difference between your 190 and the 055, but still an issue. See my response #20 to Cygnus, pretty well expresses my view. Remember, I'm shooting an Oly E-3 with 4/3-dedicated Zuikos, smaller size/weight than similarly built APS-C and full-size sensor kits. And I limit lens… -
Re: Going to Badlands, Yellowstone and Tetons. Need some locations
I didn't see this until just now so I hope I get you before you leave. The Badlands NP is one of my favorite places to shoot, I there very often. There are many areas right off the loop road to shoot. Not knowing how long you are going to be there makes it difficult to suggest any areas. Mornings and sunset are great times… -
Re: Please help me Mac gurus!!!
Reset your master password There is a better way to do it. I have discovered a way to reset the master password without knowing the original. 1. Change your user password with the Install disk 2. Locate this file: <Hardrive>/Library/Keychains/FileVaultMaster.keychain (<Hardrive> represents your hardrive whatever you call… -
Re: 20D, RAW vs. JPEG vs. Why not TIFF?
Further info on TIFF: TIFF Tiff is hardly a file format, but a whole series of them, and it is possible to write a Tiff file that will be unreadable with other software, or produce images that are in negative colour. However most modern software seems to understand and properly represent Tiff images, perhaps explaining why…
