Re: Flowers
Not just for novices Yes, many of my best flower pictures come from a period about 3 years ago when I was getting serious about digital photography. At that time I had an Olympus E10 and the macro attachment. I got really good results; the DOF of the smaller sensor really works for macro shots. Also, I fixated on flower… -
Re: Are there cameras without delays?
Good to have you here, mroe. How do you pronounce that, anyway? muuuh-rowe? :D The delay you have exists in most consumer digital cameras. Therefore a fast shutter response is a prized item. I can't give you a list of consumer cams that have a fast trigger, but they do exist. Without doing an research myself, you might… -
Re: Up coming Alaska trip
I just returned home from Petersburg Alaska Friday, after 12 days cruising Frederick Sound, Stephens Passage, Tracy and Endicot Arm, and the Dawes and Sawywers Glaciers. Nick, where are you starting from in your RV? How long is your trip, and do you have a planned route yet? What time a year as well? Denali National Park… -
Re: Team CD Sales - How do you use them for marketing
I appreciate everyone's input on this but my intent was not to get into a discussion on the merits of offering CDs/etc. I know there are a wide variety of opinions on this because there are a bazzillion different business models out there. You're absolutely right - I would not expect them to come back to me for anything… -
Re: "Universal" Lens Hoods?
I cannot speak for Nikon equipment I cannot speak for Nikon equipment but, the lens hoods for Canon EF lenses are designed to prevent flare and not to vignette with full frame cameras. They are overkill and not as efficient on the Canon 1.5x cameras. I am assuming the same would be true when using Nikon lenses designed for… -
Re: Zion
Thanks for the link Aaron. I'm sure it'll help. I've been working on the sites for about 12 years now. I'll never finish, but I don't mind. I just like learning about it all. I remember the print of snow canyon. It inspired me to take a peek from the overlook, but man, that place is big. I bought a book on the geology at… -
Re: no photo, just a comment about emotions
ahhhhh......and so it is.... ...and it brings up the point of what I am hoping will be a very special project that I have embarked on.....that is....creating a handfull of images that will hold a world's worth of meaning to a few folks on this planet. Lets face it...technical ability doesn't get those types of… -
Re: de-lurk yourselves
Finally De-lurking.. Attn: Sports Shooters Hi All! I've finally de-lurked... I've been a Smugger for about two years and have thoroughly enjoyed it all and have learned a huge amount from all of you plus the tutorials. It almost feels like I know many of you. Got my 1st DSLR about 2 years ago, a Nikon D80 (how do I turn it… -
Re: First foray back to film...
I sure did invite feedback and want to start by thanking you for taking the time to provide so much of value that could be of value to me. As an aside, my daughter just completed her art and animation degree. Her biggest complaint about college was the difficulty in getting professors to provide honest, challenging… -
Re: Strategies for street photography?
I think this is a very interesting subject. I have a strong suspicion than there are some strong local variations even within the US, just liek Kathy suggested above. I think it is easier for women to shoot small children than men, anymore. Parania abounds. For his subway portraits, somewhere I read that Walker Evans hid…
