The problem with shooting at dawn is that the fog forms overnight - it's rare to have a really clear sky looking in this location at dawn. You might get lucky, but my experience is that I get up early, head into SF, and find fog. :-( My experience with shooting SF in this direction (north-east) is that it works best on a… -

Here's my full setup for shooting HDRs: ISO 100 to 400 Aperture Priority f/10, which on full frame is my preferred balance between sharpness and DoF.
