Re: Rotate image issues
Andy, I'll give you a test bed if you want. The same test Sean and I performed. You'll have to do upload it and rotate the images about 10-20 different times while watching everything on the back end to start getting an idea of what's going on. I believe it was only about 100-300mb of images. Let me know if you want this… -
Re: Rotate image issues
Thanks for checking in. NO, I didn't do anything else to this photo. If you'll look at my numbered list, #10 tells you that neither photo that is currently messed up had any color processes done to it. A couple of others did, but none of the messed up ones. I was making sure this time to keep track of what I did. I only… -
Re: Rotate image issues
Great, glad to hear it is going well for you. I would not anticipate any problems though :) As for timing, usually somewhere between 15-35 seconds. Though, if it fails, then it has to timeout first, which takes 10 minutes. I don't think you would get caught by any caching issues since we are incrementing the serial number… -
Re: Rotate image issues
If you take the photo size, for example, a 10 megapixel camera might have 3648 x 2736 pixels. Both of those numbers are evenly divisible by 16 (and by consequence 8). So they can almost for sure be rotated lossless. You could probably point at virtually every reasonably standard size that comes out of a camera and it would… -
Re: Rotate image issues
This is the most interesting example and what actually happened to me that led me down this strange path. because of that, let me walk through the process here so you can see. Consider the following two imaging operations: 1. rotate the image 2. watermark the image What is happening is: 1. Process #1 begins work in serial… -
Re: Rotate image issues
I went through all this same stuff w/ you a month or so ago when I was uploading tons of back-up files. Cameras aren't perfect. Mine was the top of the line Nikon -- 10 yrs. ago!! We're not all rolling in dough here. I have to do a lot of rotating. Even the much newer Olympus Evolt I use on occasion typically needs a few… -
Re: Rotate image issues
I have been seeing this issue for about 6 months, and reporting it to smugmug. But I do alot of rotating. Hundreds to thousands of photos a week and with that volume it usually was occuring in 2-10% of the photos on each occasion. It started when smugmug implemented the new remote hosting of photos on Akamai. I used to… -
Re: Rotate image issues
Hello, I think that the cause of this bug has been sorted out. Thank you for everyone who has worked so hard to try and reproduce this and all of your generosity in posting critical details here. Without that effort, this would have been impossible. If I were to list the names of everyone who helped, it would a very long… -
Re: Rotate image issues
I've been away, and am not uploading anything pertinent right now anyway, so that's why a personal call today would have made little sense. I also don't want to learn something that we should all know, cuz I then feel obligated to come here & explain to everyone. And, Ok-- Andy, I was being sarcastic when I first said "How…
