While the Canon 50mm, f1.4 USM does not have quite as good a bokeh signature as the 50mm, f1.2L, it's still very good looking for most subjects. I have the 50/1.4 and never seen any "weird" bokeh, wide open or stopped down all the way. One of my favorite lenses on my 5DII for landscape panoramas.
