Re: High in the Arctic !! Eskimo....
Hello Hello from the land of the Eskimo - in Barrow TOP of the WORLD. Here is perhaps the most well known site in the entire village, The Arch of the two Jaw bones from a Bowhead Whale. But these were put here, not by the people of Barrow.. .. People of Point Hope came up here to show and help them how to do this in the… -
Re: >>> DSS Challenge #5 (Primary or Pastel): Feedback Thread
Last page! 81 - redleash - Canine Color Vision - To answer your question, so *we* can find their toys in the bushes... Again a simple three colored objects still life we've seen from a few other entires, a good starting point. In this case it is missing something and is a bit bland. Lighting definitely a bit hard as well.… -
Re: Get serious . . . on a budget
Tamrons 28-75 f2.8 Di is very small - ~3.6 inches long and 2.9 inches in diameter - it takes a 67mm filter size. The Sigma which my brother just bought is substantially larger in size 4.5 in long and 3.5 in diameter and takes an 82 mm filter size. The barrel assembly of the Sigma is very nicely made but my brothers zoom… -
Re: LPS#8 feedback thread
Mine in order of submission are: #2-Big Bang Redux (PaulThomaMckee): Great DOF and color. It is the best of the flower images, given the theme. Maybe it's the Irish in me and those look like Shamrocks. #13-Sugar Rush (Pat664422): While it seems kinda obvious (like the fireworks entries), I like the sharpness, DOF, and… -
Re: How to buy a new motorcycle: the long way
Day 5 I haven't set the lab on fire yet today, so I've earned a quick break to post another day... Another day that I was pretty excited about. After having some of my plans literally blown away the previous day, I was hoping for a little more cooperation from the weather gods. I can't say this ended up being the case, we… -
Re: first post
One way to correct it... First of all, you should make sure you read smugmug's advice on color correction as it's quite helpful. There are a lot of different approaches here. Here's how I look at this photo. First, i wondered if maybe the girl's shirt should be a neutral white. When you look at it in pure RGB, you see… -
Re: SmugMug Network Connectivity Issues
Got the following from a new member that can't post... It's all Greek to me, but they say the problem seems to be limted to 'hera' as 'pluto' is unaffected: ______________________________________ Hi,I saw that you just posted on the dgrin forums for having smugmug network issues.I am having the same problems but cannot… -
Re: SmugMug Update From Baldy
Here is the problem that I'm having with this thought process. This can be represented by a bell curve. A bell curve is a graphical representation of how things (in this case high quality SmugMug sites) are distributed in a population. The reason that a standard distribution looks like this is, to put it simply, is that… -

Re: Bulk Edit EXIF
The exif tool from libexif is capable of setting values, however it does seem to also dork with some other stuff, so it's not a clean "just change these bytes and no others" opperation. Namely on my images it mucks around with the Maker Note and User Comment portions. That at least works on my jpgs, it isn't capable of…
