Re: More Chal 37, comments please
I couldn't even tell what junk you were talking about. I thought it was clouds, or I would have tried to clean it up. I suppose it could have come from Bill's windshield, but he is kind of anal about his van as it is a work vehicle. Anyway, I finally figured out, OH, that is what they are talking about, and on which… -
Re: Scanning of images, after they purchase the 4x6
If it were me (and I haven't fully read all the other responses so if I repeat anything, forgive me!) I would:* Accept the fact that NOTHING could be done to prevent theft! It's going to happen - the only think you might be able to prevent is as much theft. It sucks, but that's the way it is. You could go after everyone,… -
Re: Lighting a Black Car at Night w/ Multiple Strobes
The weekends over, but if you're trying to light a car, you don't light the car. Says vague lighting master... :D Cars are reflective. Black is one of the worst. You have to light the surroundings. If you point a speed light at a car and fire, you're going to get a point of light from the reflection of the strobe firing… -
Re: Tri-Pod Stability
For me it was the right move.....the tripod I use is very much like this one linked HERE.....someone at Philly Photo got sloppy and used a photo of 3 section to sell a 4 section pod......here are my reasons....I did not want 2 or 3 or 4 tripods....one for each type of shooting.......so I looked, I bought and I returned… -
Re: Are the Smugmug servers overloaded?
1316/396 from Tampa Bay Road Runner. That's a bit thin, since I know my line is good for 4000-5000 to, say, Speakeasy Atlanta. Alas, I can't do a 'good' traceroute at the moment conveniently (WinMTR requires admin privs on 2000, and no linux boxen in the room -- and windows' traceroute is ... less than useful... but I… -

Hi Bill I have experience doing this. (I actually worte this reply once, and it didn't take ) I will try to give you some relevant info. I offer a variety of different services for sports teams. My prices are going up for next season. Generally, I am contacted by a single team at a time, and either do team and individual… -
Re: Lighting a Group on Stairs
You kind of lost me there...Shay This sounds like something I'll need to do once my flash gets here... by pointing straight at the person you mean 90 degrees? and straight up (toward the ceiling) would be 0 degrees? Feathering would be 45 degrees? Joe: Too bad that "on the stairs" is where they want to stand. The people in… -
Re: My first "real" portrait attempt
Black velvet = wonderful, but remember that dress material fabrics are usually only 45" or occasionally 60" wide. If you're gonna go the velvet route, check out the upholstery section where material is generally sold in wider widths; it is, of course, more expensive the wider it is, but at least you get what you need that… -
Re: Tracking pictures
Which GPS unit will you be using??? Just be sure to get the accessory cable for downloading to you computer...same cable can be used to download from the GPS mfg'ers site for upgrades and various maps. A digital tape recorder is also handy so that you can quickly keep notes...much faster than trying to dig out a pen…
