Re: 1st Real Tripod
Agreed. Very good tripod. I went with the 190CXPRO3 legs vs the 055, you loose a little bit on what it can support, but it's a bit lighter, but also a hair more spendy, actually a bit. I don't remember what the differences were now, max height, min height maybe. I dunno. Look into both though. Either way can't go wrong… -
Re: Where is Safe to Buy?
Hey Sid, we'll I have over 450 transactions on Ebay with the vast majority of those as the buyer and I've only had 2 or 3 "issues" that were all resolved. The key is to really review the seller's feedback, but if a seller has >500 feedback points and an approval rating of 98% or more, chances are it's pretty safe. At 98%,… -
Re: Wanting New Glass: Budget around $800
Mostly it's my "on camera 75% of the time" general use lens. Gets a bit into wide angle, and to very mild telephoto. It's nice to have the f/2.8 shooting indoors. As for infield baseball, it will work depending on what effect you are looking for. 50mm is not reaching very far, and given that you're likely to be fairly far… -
Re: 3-way head or Ball head? Which one do you have? Why?
This is all very interesting, but how much weight it can hold and standing up to wind is a worry to me. When I read info on tripods and heads they give different weight amounts. Do I look for total weight a tripod can hold then take the weight of the camera/lens and head to figure out the weight the tripod needs to hold.… -
Re: Lens Advice?
Are you looking for superb quality, i.e. sellable, or just for your own, scrapbook, photo album type purposes, or web and email? If either of those, then the cheaper lenses will be fine, only downfall at that point is the slowness of the lens, you'll be limited there. I'd say, a great, for the most part, all around lens,… -
Re: Why Does This Happen????
I tooks some photos of the newspaper with the 70-200 lens. Here is the link to take a look. Out of over 20 shots these are the 3 shots that had a blur. It's the middle photo -- I included previous and after shot of the blurred photo for reference. I notice that if you click from 1st photo through the 3rd photo you can see… -
Re: Attempting People
Thanks for all the kind comments. Since I have learned so much here, I am pleased to be able to share what little I know about lighting. Here's the set up: I pulled the chair out from the corner and put it in front of the bookcase. I think its slightly away, but no real separation, maybe a foot. Two flashes, a 580ex with… -
Re: All I Want for Christmas. . . ?
We've talked a bit about this before, but I think the most important thing is what you want to shoot. For example, I agree that low-light capability is serriously missing, but if you want to shoot indoor candid shots/portraits with available light, the lenses you listed will be too long. As I told you, I have a 35mm F2… -
Re: when shoot ing wedding do you typically shoot with 1 or 2 cameras?
Events I've done events and weddings with 1. one camera/one lens, 2. two cameras and one fixed and one changing lenses - the cameras were a 5d and 20 d 3. two cameras, changing leses and a 2nd shooter with a 2nd body 4. 4 cameras - two for me and 2 for 2nd shooter If the event is small enough, One lens/one body is my… -
Re: Which LowePro Slingshot for me?
I tired both the 200 and 300 out before settling on the 300. The 200 can be a tight squeeze for the XTi with my 70-300 on it. The 300 has tons of room for me to grow also. Here is everything I have in it: Main Compartment: XTi w/ Grip w/ 70-300 Canon 24-105 Canon 18-55 kit Canon 50.1.8 Canon 420EX flash Packs with up to…
