Re: The Event Marketing Help Thread
Can I get a bit more info on this? See my previous post. Are you sure they aren't landing in a junk folder? Here is how it works: Each time you add a participant and save, we create a new favorites gallery for that participant. If you ever visit the event using that link (or their favorites link), you are cookied in as… -
Re: Specific tripod selections, narrowed down to three choices
I'd be looking at graphite, where only 8/10 lb difference between your 190 and the 055, but still an issue. See my response #20 to Cygnus, pretty well expresses my view. Remember, I'm shooting an Oly E-3 with 4/3-dedicated Zuikos, smaller size/weight than similarly built APS-C and full-size sensor kits. And I limit lens… -
Re: Need help finding a great camera. :)
Wow, that is quite a spread of cameras. All of these cameras are capable of capturing great images. All of these cameras are also quite capable of capturing poor quality snapshots. I think you will find, as you grow and learn as a photographer, that great images are a combination of many different factors and properties.… -
Re: Just Bought a Canon 40D - Must Have Accessories?
Grab the free and totally awesome smugmug camera strap. I'm not kidding, it is the most comfy strap I've ever owned (not that i've owned many). Not that we've freed up another $25, you gotta get a tripod. No, not a $25 one. Look at the manfrotto stuff. I love the Grip head tripod heads and flip lock legs. I don't have the… -
Re: Program or system to help with sorting 4400 shots, every weekend?
Only one rider in each picture? If not, you're going to end up with even more pictures by creating separate folders for each rider, i.e., same pic will be in multiple folders. A better way to do this would be to use keywords. You just need a method to quickly assign keywords to the images. I read a post once where an event… -
Re: Can we eliminate image-level pricing?
My peeps, lets not get angry. It's ok to be nervous and express our desires but SmugMug has a long reputation of listening. If there is a work around that still allows me individual print pricing in a gallery, allows for organizing all images within any customer gallery including the "collected" ones, AND is easy to… -
Re: Adobe Bridge Problem
Christine, I have spent a fair bit googling this problem. If you were to search for "The memory could not be read", you'd be surprised (or maybe not ...) how many of the hits reference an Adobe product. I found references to this error for CS3, Adobe Acrobat, and an un-answered thread for Bridge. So, I think this is a… -
Re: Carolina Moon
This post by John is such a great post I just have to respond!! Actually, a good spot meter should work if you think of the moon like snow, may be, and just meter off the moon. But the large area of black around the moon gives camera’s averaging meters fits. Stick with sunny f16 for the moon - unless its really hidden in… -
Re: Question about RAW versus JPG in PowerShotS50
Brad, The camera modes are completely different. If you didn't change them, then the camera did when you chose RAW format. I bolded the pertinant areas: http://bradfordbenn.smugmug.com/photos/182561943-O.jpg Exif Sub IFD * Exposure Time (1 / Shutter Speed) = 8/10 second = 0.80000 second * Lens F-Number/F-Stop = 28/10 =… -
Re: Gettin Ready to dump some dough
OK... that helps. I will look later today at a few other features of each lens also. Weight difference is least important to me. If I sell the sigma I won't have macro capability so I need to look at minimum focusing distance and things like that too. If I get the 24-105, then I will almost have to keep the sigma for the…
