Here's the deal,

I want to contact all of my past clients about the upcoming football season. I know that some players have moved on to other leagues or are now playing for their schools.

My goal is to:
  1. Remind most of the parents that we are available for the upcoming season.
  2. Notify parents about our new website and blog.
  3. Inform parents about special promotions and contests.
  4. Hopefully attract more business other than football.
  5. And in general push more traffic to our website.

What would be the best way to go about this without seeming like spam?

Thanks,
-Sonny

this won't help you now, but I'd have something where in the future the can check a box to opt out (or the other way around), but have them say, "I want to receive emails occasionally about promotions, etc."

as for the mailing itself, when you get very many names, you might use something like http://www.listmailpro.com/ I have used it for years to manage an opt in list -- currently at 11,000 names. it is a little work to set up--I'd pay someone to do it unless you are real comfortable with that, but once it is set up it works great. What I like is there is no ongoing cost--you buy the software and you are done.

    Josh,

Thank you for your response. I'll have a look at List Mail Pro.

I'd love to hear any more ideas y'all have.

    Thanks,
    -Sonny

whether or not something is technically spam by the definition of some is not really the point. I would think if you have a reasonable expectation that people would be interested in your communication, then no-prob.

On a practical level, my wife often reminds me of this: give em an offer. Put someting on sale. People love sales.
