A friend of mine has some of the best seats in the house at Angel Stadium. I recently moved to LA from Seattle and am a big Mariner's fan, so I try and get a pair of tickets from him at least once a year.

Ichiro Suzuki at the plate. Unfortunately, the mesh screen does get in the way... This makes autofocusing extremely difficult.

Erstad crushes one (3-run HR), and everyone admires it...

This is a bit OOF because he (Julio Mateo) was cropped from images focused on the batter. I just liked his "graceful" pitching motion.

I definitely wish I had a faster zoom lens and/or monopod. Focusing was definitely rough with the screen in the way. Especially when you forget whether you're in AF or MF! :doh

Enjoy! Even though the Mariners lost, I certainly had fun at the game. Sitting 6 rows behind the screen is incredible if you're a baseball fan! :thumb

Nice set and looks like you had a fun time! It's not often you get prime seats like that.

    Chris,

These are some sweet shots from some very well located seats thumb.gifthumb.gif

Perfect seats for viewing the game and having nice angles for capturing the defense and pitched balls. Not so good for getting batters ne_nau.gif Still, I'd take these seats in a heartbeat....lol I could get by with a small (light) fairly wide angle lens clap.gif

So what equipment were you using and what kind of speeds, ISO did you use?

Nice work and I'm sorry the Mariners lost :cry

Thanks! The seats also come with great parking and access to the club levels and restaurants. The food is remarkably good and you can order drinks and food right from your seats if you want. Definitely an experience.

Thanks, Steve! I think I was in ISO 800 most of the night (maybe 400 when it was lighter near the beginning). I was lazy and had the camera in "P" mode. Most of the shots are 5.6, 1/100 to 1/250. There's quite a bit of light when you're right next to the field!

The wider shots are with the EF-S 17-85, and the closeups are with my old Canon EF 100-300.

The M's got 'em the next day! clap.gif I just wasn't there to see it. :cry

Thanks, I wish I had him more in focus.

From those seats, you really hear the crack of the bat, and the snap as the ball hits the catcher's mitt. That umpire was pretty quiet though...
