Got a question :scratch (probally dumb?)
But can I use my Sunpak 383 on my Canon 20D?

I don't use flashes alot and don't really want to buy another one.

Thanks!

The sync voltage tolerance for the 20D is 250 volts (all of Canon's older 1.6x crop DSLRs are 6 volt max.)

The sync voltage for the Sunpak has been reported to be as low as 3.74 volts and as high as 10.29 volts. So it's perfectly safe for the 20D as well as 350D and 1D/s but questionable for all other Canon DSLRs

If you prefer anecdotal proof, I use that specific flash on my 20D without problems.

I agree it is safe with the 20D, and I would add, every other camera known to man. mwink.gif

For all the concern we have for a few volts over 6, I have yet to hear anyone say they fried their camera with any of the modern low voltage flash units. I think it is a real concern for older flash units that measure in the hundreds of volts, but the concern has been passed down to the newer flash units without being warranted I think.

:soapbox That's my opinion, I'm Shay Stephens mwink.gif
