There may be a limit, but if there is it is huge, and I'm convinced you'll probably never reach it. Go nuts, make as many categories as you like

By the way, how do you make many galleries in one page as you made:
http://ivar.smugmug.com/Photos.

My galleries just list one by one per row, so if I have more galleries, have to scroll mouse down and down.

The strategy I used was to have some broad topics (categories) for my main galleries that show up on my homepage such as: Travel, Family, On the Homefront, etc. Then I assign the individual galleries to the best topic and create sub-categories for them to tuck under the broader topics. That way people can hopefully navigate to their topic of interest and only open up galleries that are pertinent to them.

Assigning sub-categories is flexible and you can change it at any time. You go into your control panel tab at the top of your homepage and you'll find a tab of categories there. It will walk you through the process.
