Kate and I will be coming in from parts unknown, and leaving in some direction that she hasn't told me about yet.:D
So pick up or drop off at airports is out, but after we settle in, we should be able to help move a couple of people around.

We'll be in a Chevy Trailblazer, the front seats are good, the back seats are a little tight.

greenpea, mrs. greanpea, skippy and I will be renting a mini-van in flagstaff for a pre-shoot and leaving via flagstaff.

I don't think we'll be useful as a airport shuttle, but there is always a possibility of stuffing anther body or two into the vehicle during the shootout itself.

Let's share a car: SLC or Grand Junction
As I posted in the big thread, I'm going to be flying into either Salt Lake City or Grand Junction on the 8th and returning on the 12th. I'd like to split car rental with someone to/from Moab. I'm currently favoring SLC, because it's cheaper and I can get a direct flight. The 1 stop I'd have on a Grand Junction flight would eliminate any time savings from going that route. For me, at least.

    Anyone? Anyone?

    Woops,
I missed the transportation thread, thanks for the link!

So, I have lots of extra days..but I need to be picked up and/or dropped off in Vegas. I can drive too, manual/automatic/truck/van/car.

I'm good for stops along the way too, I just need to get the dates firmed up so that I can book flights and confirm my vacation days. :D

I live in Las Vegas and will be driving to the shootout.

My current plans are very minimal. I plan on leaving Las Vegas sometime around 5 or 6am on Wednesday October 8 for arrival in Moab around 2 or 3pm, then leave Moab late morning or early afternoon on Sunday October 12 for arrival back in Las Vegas by 10pm or so.

It's about a seven hour drive (+1 hour going, -1 hour returning due to the time zone change).

I was planning on driving my own car, however I could be convinced to rent a minivan for the trip up and back if enough people decide to join in for the road trip. The Enterprise Rent-a-Car by my home actually appears to have some of the best rates in Las Vegas for rentals--probably because it isn't located in a tourist area.

I don't have any pre/post shoot plans and I'm not sure what people coming into Las Vegas would want to see or do either in town or on the way there and back. I can suggest a few things around town (Red Rock Canyon, Hoover Dam, Springs Preserve, Valley of Fire, stuff along the strip: Bellagio Conservatory/fountains, Venetian canals, etc.) if you want to spend an extra day or so on either side of the shootout in Vegas.

I am coming in on the 4th to Denver to visit friends and will be driving the 6 hours to moab with them possibly. But I'm trying to figure it all out so it makes sense and I don't have 6 hours to high tail it to the airport. Interesting to say the least.

    Thanks.

I'll be flying into Vegas later afternoon/early evening on 10/7 and I'll hang out at the airport if you don't mind picking me up there on the morning of 10/8 any time is fine.:D

Then, I'll be flying out of Vegas on the redeye Friday 10/17. I'll probably try to get some discounted, last minute things while in Vegas but I'd really, really like to see the grand canyon and some of the cool slot canyons. I don't know if you have to get back to work or if you'd like to join me, but you're welcome to!

Also, let me know what you're thinking about regarding the rental I might be able to get us a small discount depending on who you choose to go with.

If it's only us two driving up from Las Vegas, we can save money by not renting a vehicle. Anyone else want to carpool from Vegas?

In any case, I will PM you with my contact info.

    Two driving from SJC
ChrisP6 and I will be driving from SJC on a pre-shootout trip and our tentative schedule looks something like this:

October 3 (Friday) -- Leave at 7:00am, and drive to Mesquite, NV
October 4 (Saturday) -- Shoot & Enjoy Zion
    October 5 (Sunday) -- Springdale
October 6 (Monday) -- Drive through Bryce, highway 12 over Boulder Mountain, stop at Anasazi Indian Village, stay near Capitol Reef NP
October 7 (Tuesday) -- Shoot & Enjoy Capitol Reef
October 8 (Wednesday) -- Drive to Moab (nr Arches NP) via Goblin Valley OR Burr-Trail & Lake Powell Ferry, then join DGrinners
    October 9 (Thursday) -- Shootout
    October 10 (Friday) -- Shootout
    October 11 (Saturday) -- Shootout
October 12 (Sunday) -- Drive home (994 miles, 14 hours and 49 minutes)

I believe we will be in Chris' Acadia, which could accomodate up to another 2 people easily and their gear, but not sure if this schedule or any part of it works for anyone else.

Going to be hecka fun, especially since this year my back seems to be cooperating.

Orange County SJC? Would love to hook up with some fellow dgrinners if you're going to be shooting right in my own backyard!

Yes, I'm lurking in the shootout thread even though I missed signing up because I'm jealous and I'm kicking myself now. Even though that's how I spend most of my free time, it's got to be a lot more fun doing it with others with the same interests and at least have someone to grunt at over 4am coffee. rolleyes1.gif

Plans have been made, tickets have been bought.

I'll be arriving in Salt Lake City at 2:30pm on the 8th, and heading for Moab just as quickly as I can get my luggage into the rental car.

If anyone else needs a ride from SLC at around that time, or on the return trip on the 12th, I think there's room in the car.
