Dan, I think this one could use some contrast. If you want to get the most out of it, exclude the black...add contrast...include the black...add a touch more contrast.

Now...if you want to be picky...like me......use the healing brush (carefully) to remove those hot pixels by the mouth and use an off-white 1 or 2 pixel paintbrush to enhance the catch-light in the eye.
These things certainly aren't necessary...but every little bit adds to the overall look. The more you do it the more you will see it for yourself. Hope this has been helpful.:D

I appreciate it Ric. I did not use PS on this shot. I made some quick adjustments in Aperture just to share quickly. I know it needs quite a bit of work. Since I have been using Aperture for the past year or so, I have forgotten most of what I learned in PS, and I avoid using it. For shots like this, I really need PS to make the most of it. Again I really do appreciate your coaching.

How about a little selective coloring to make it pop?
Nice job Dan. Hey how often does a big lizard come thru the backyard?
Thanks Bob. I know this isn't a particularly good shot but I was so excited to see this critter We have monsoons here now and my backyard is is full of new visitors like frogs, toads, and tarantulas. I saw a huge one last night but it was gone by the time I got my camera out. Just like birds. Thanks again for looking in and commenting.
