Help with pic bridge from 40D

I am having a problem using pic bridge from my Canon 40D. I have a HP A310 I sometimes use in the field to print pictures on the fly when working special events. When I print pictures from my 40D the pics come out dark with detail lost in the shadows and no pop in the bright colors. The pics display great on the camera, histogram, PC, and when printed in the local photo lab. I have an olympus point and shoot, and I tested it on the printer, that worked great. I am hoping there is a color setting somewhere I have missed. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
