Stock Photography

I'm young, entering college and I have some photos I think could be professional quality. I invest a lot of time and energy into my photography and it would be wonderful to get some cash from this dedication. I've sold a few pictures locally but nothing much. So my questions is:

Is selling my images to a stock photo company worth the time/money? I'm concerned about the several options in terms of selling copyrights for an extended period of time and I'd probably be more comfortable royalty system.

Are there many opportunities for young people to have shows in galleries? I'm moving to D.C and it will be my first time in the city. Obviously I need to do my own research once I arrive but is something like this common in urban areas?

Thanks for helping a poor college student out :D

    Hi Laura:

    Welcome to dGrin wave.gif

I'd like to help you in two ways. First I want to point out an error in your nomenclature; you never sell copyright, you only license usage of your images.

Secondly I'm going to ask you to try our wonderful search feature here so you'll become more adept at finding information about topics of interest to you.

I can assure you stock photography, selling images and copyright issues have been discussed endlessly among the forums.

So, right up there to the upper right, click on the woed search and go to town!

Good luck and I'll be checking in on you after a while. thumb.gif
