feeding off my strobed mountain bike images from last week:

I was asked to shoot a local XTERRA Trail run race this past weekend. I've never photographed a running race and the images I usually see are pretty boring...so I thought in addition to shooting "regular", I would try some strobed panning as well.
Set up was using 3 Nikon SB800 flashes.
1 set on a 9' light stand shooting down over top the runner - wide angle
1 set on a mini 4' light stand aimed at the runners face - 70mm
1 set on the ground behind the runner for some back lighting. This lash was set a very low power to make sure the feet still blurre4d showing motion.
Here are a few sample images from the race:

....and a few regular images

it's not the size of the lens that matters... It's how you focus it.

whoever dies with the biggest coolest piece of glass, wins!
Great shots!
Nice photos.
And I agree with the above poster, they all look emaciated.

He'd wait until they were almost past him and then jump out, flash them, and capture their terrified look!
