I tested my siggy 120-300 with a 2X extender. These were taken around 6:30-7 pm so light wasn't great. I set the A to 7.1 and ISO was 400-800. Everything was handheld. Overall, I am pleased with the image quality with the extender and AF was still faster than the 300 2.8 and about as fast as the 80-200 2.8. I am anxious to test it out with better lighting and using a monopod. This was the longest reach I have shot and camera shake is really magnified when shooting at 600mm.

Juvenile GBH?

Here's a shot at 600mm and little faster shutterspeed to show sharpness. I did do processing so it's not straight out of the camera.

Nice stilts John. The little blue in flight is a great shot! And nice snowy image as well. I am not sure about the last photo. I'd have to see one that shows more detail. The yellow legs though is one field mark. Perhaps an immature little blue. I'm really not sure.

Nice work. Though, when I see the word stilts, I think of rainbow wigs and red rubber ball noses... ;)

That's the best I have, but now that you mention it, I do believe it might be a juvenile little blue.

Nice images John. thumb.gif The extender will take some time to get used to ....
I'm no expert but I'm not sure about the juvenile Little Blue either. The ones that I have seen have a greyish bill and almost green legs. The two color bill on this one makes me think cattle egret, but like I said I am far from knowing what I am talking about.

Little Blue juvie that I shot in June
