It happened suddenly, last month people commented on how heathy and good Kuda looked and were amazed at him being so vibrant and healthy at 12 years old.
This weekend he became lethargic by Monday he could not keep any food down and by Monday night he could not walk. He was holding on ,maybe only for us (our family). Tuesday I had made the decision to go to the Vet.

I was hoping for a miracle but none was to be found . Only the inevitable...

A great void is very evident in our house hold . A valued and loved member of our household has left us.

This is the first animal /pet that I have elected to have cremeated and get the remains to have a family ceremony. We need the closure. Moreso for my 10 year old daughter some so for myself.
A Damn good dog and damn good friend.:cry He will be forever missed.
12 years is a good life for a Male Siberian Husky and he was heathy for all of them untill the end.
Indulge me as I share some pictures of him. I have posted them all before but somehow right now seems to have so much more meaning to myself.

Forever missed.

No good mate. I have always liked seeing his photos...those eyes are without description. Nothing else i can say mate.

My fav old saying..dont know whom said it...

Dogs are smart enough to be human but dumb enough not to abuse the privilege.

    Tim,

My sincerest condolences. I can very vivdly understand your great loss. We went through such an experience just over a month ago (http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=7754&highlight=chance).

Someone sent me the following. Perhaps your daughter may find comfort in it:

    ****

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body begins to quiver. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... ...Author unknown

    ****

I promised my kids, tomorrow morning, we're off to the SPCA to adopt a new 4-legged child. I think that's the best therapy although never a replacement.

    Kuda was very beautiful!

Having been around animals all my life, I certainly can feel for your family.
I just can't hold the tears back, so I can't really say much more.
I just hope Nir is right, which I could turn back the hands of time

Kuda's eyes were amazing, I saw all the photos you ever posted of him, and his facial expressions always reminded me of my lost buddy Kobe. Now I'm sitting here teary over both of them.

    Shakey,

I am very sorry to hear of your loss. I don't have the ability to write what I feel. Fortunitly I am home alone or I would have to make up a story about alergies causing my eyes to run.

    Shakey,

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Sometimes I wonder if pets like Kuda know how much of a difference they make in our lives...and then I look at your pictures and think...yeah, they know...and their love for their families is real..

    :cry

    My condolences.

So sorry for your loss--it reminds me all over again how the relationships with animals (and people) are what's important in life, not possessions and status. Hard to look at an aging animal and know they won't be around for long, and just treasuring the time left. Glad Kuda was able to slip away without a prolonged period of ill health.

Great photo memories, hope the memorial was satisfying for all of his friends.
