I have a few Cottonmouths on my website but this one was actualy trying to eat a fish! I only had my 100mm with me so i had to get very close. This snake was about 4 feet long so i was not happy about getting so close. As i got closer it started to move its tail like a rattler and jumped into the lake with the fish in mouth. I only managed to get this one shot.

ps. Do not try this it is a very dangerous snake.

That is very cool. I have been hiking a bunch and keep seeing some corn and rat snakes, but they bolt as soon as I get near, or freeze in the path when I don't have my camera handy. rolleyes1.gif Someday I will get them. Lately they have been going into the lake, the last one went in and then swam back up, that was creepy to watch in the murky water. A lot of people let their dogs run free there, I wonder how many get bit disturbing snakes. ne_nau.gif

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

That is a cool shot! thumb.gif Will snakes catch fish like this one, or would it have found it scavaging?

This was the head of a fish the Beavers had left behind. I am not sure the snake could handle a live fish of this size.
