Scottish Highland Dancing

I photographed the US Inter Regional Highland Dance Championship about a week and a half ago. Having a fair bit of experience shooting indoor high school sports I wasn't too concerned about the poor stage lighting. I was more intimidated by the formal portraits the organization wanted. I'm fairly pleased given the smallish room and my limited lighting experience. Having no backdrop for large groups we requested the hotel provide a curtain. Not the best solution, but it worked out OK.

The girls were all more into having fun than the formals. I found their fun pictures a lot of fun to shoot.

3. shutter speed a little slow for action, but I wasn't really preparing for this.

Isn't funny how stepping out of your little box of confidence sometimes yields unexpected results. I was so stressed about the portrait session and now I really want to repeat it. 1, 2, & 3 are my favorites as well. I think this one came in pretty close too.
