How to connect a flash and a flash trigger to one camera?

Hi!

I want to use a flash (580) and a radio flash trigger (ebay type for
camera hotshoe) at the same time on my camera (10D).
The cam's hotshoe is occupied by the flashgun but the PC
sync terminal on the side is free ..

Now, can I use that port to connect the trigger without sacrificing
any auto/ttl functions of the 580? I've never seen anyone do it but
figured you guys would know. This is what I need to buy, right?!

Many thanks!

Sure, I have one of those and it will work fine. You might pick up 2 because they are very cheaply made and one of mine failed quickly.

A possible problem you might have is positioning the radio transmitter. Those e-bay versions can work OK but they need line-of-sight for best operation. The camera body and tripod can absorb/block the signal so proper positioning is important for proper operation.

Just tested my Sigma Super flash on 40D, with an Ebay trigger / hotshoe adaptor plugged into PC port.. seems to work fine. On camera flash indicates ETTL was used.
