I was cleaning the backyard when this fellow decide to pose. Grab the camera and here are the results. I'm very new to this so I would appreciate any feedback positive or negative.

I am not a macro guy, but I think that first shot is absolutely fabulous (they are all good) clap.gif What lens did you use?

    Thank you
Goldenorfe - Thanks for the feedback. These were my favorites. I do have a few different angles (not much of a change though) in the gallery but I didn't like them as much.

diplumer - Thank you. I think the first shot is my overall favorite. I was using the Sony SAL-75300 - f/4.5-5.6 Telephoto Zoom Lens at 300mm, f/9.0, with a 1/320 shutter speed. I'm probably going to break down in the next couple weeks and actually buy a macro lens but I am just not certain what I should buy.

now i like that composition better. everyone has their own ideas anyway.
most people start with a 100mm macro lens, then add extension tubes.

Nice shots. Like the first, but all are good. I'd start with a 100mm lense. Good working distance and not to hard to get used to. Good quality lense. When you'ver got that one down, add tubes or a TC, or both.

Hi Memory, you did really well with these.
I'm with the folks who have recommended you go with a 100mm Macro,
    and add extension tubes.

The tubes are something you will not regret buying.

I really like the first and the single shot you added later in the post clap.gif

I appreciate the feedback. I will start looking into the 100mm Macro. I'm still trying to learn this and will do some reading later tonight but what specifically is an extension tube.

Am I correct in that it is just that a tube with no optics that moves the lens farther away from the chip?

I purchased some magnifying lens but they just don't seem to work very well. I cannot seem to get good focus with them.
