I think that this is an excellent use of foreground and a nice even exposure as well. The water in the middle of the frame seems to have almost a lavender hue to it, very appealing. It's great that the reflection on the foreground water was not so harsh as to hide the colorful rock underneath the surface.
Where on the coast was this one taken?

Hey Jared. Spot is out of Coos Bay to the west and a little south.
You'll see it on the map easy. Nice little inlet and the area has several
sites of interest to photograph. Not an impressive bay on the day we
caught it. Had to work my ### hard just to even get close to anything
worth writing home about. I got more rock abstracts than anything.
Thank you for your thoughts on the image. The sea was way calm.
Tide going out I think. Was pleased to get those foreground details.
I think the lavender came from bumping the hues as much as I thought
I needed too. Plus I PP'd much else to make it look at least close.
Or at least close to me.

Nice of you to say. It was definitely peaceful that night. Out there
snapping away with my thoughts only to find I didn't have my flashlight
and was a quarter mile from the beach over rough terrain.
wow thats some cool terrain, textures everywhere, water, clouds, :ivar
Aaron, appreciate your note. It was really nice & interesting terrain.
I'd love to go back and reshoot better than what I think I got in a
photo like the first one shown . Played with going BW with a different
photo same scene. Man I need to learn how to convert.
for shots like these i would use lightroom to adjust luminosities, after i did some curves in cs3.
myself, im just scratching the surface in learning conversion.
you lost all sky properties, and have no textures in your conversion...
what PP programs do you use? maybe i can help with something?

Yeah, I used filter glow in that BW and things went a little hot.
Which I did cause I wasn't liking what I was getting at the time.
It was like, here, take this glow and stuff it.
Appreciate the offer. I took the image into lightroom as suggested.
I practically never use lightroom. Played with things and moved that
to photoshop7. Tried what little I know there and this is about last call for
this effort. Got some sky detail if nothing else.
