Use own domain Name Problem

I had followed the smugmug instructions of setting up your own domain name when you have it registered with Godaddy, however I am having problems.

On my domain name with Godaddy, I have pointed my "www" to my smugmug account, "chapman-photography54.smugmug.com". This didn't work, so I re-read the instructions and thought I found the reason. So I went back and pointed my domain to "domains.smugmug.com".

Then I went to the control panel, settings, change domain and entered my domain name, www.mydomainname.com and still get the following error message:

"That hostname doesn't appear to be valid. It doesn't resolve to a hostname. See our help section on custom hostnames."

Help please!

    Domain Name now working
When I changed my DNS to point to "domains.smugmug.com" it started working (i.e., www.markchapmanphotography.com).

Now, I'm trying to work the sub-domain as markchapmanphotography.com. I added a new CNAME at Godaddy, alias - markchapmanphotography and pointed to the host as above. Waiting to see if it works.

    Domain Name without WWW
    Andy,

    I'm still having problems.

I have my godaddy DNS pointing as follows:

    Alias - markchapmanphotography
    Pointing to host - mecphotography.smugmug.com

Originally, I had this pointing to domains.smugmug.com and that didn't work. I tried the @ alias but godaddy would not accept it.

My domain, www.markchapmanphotography.com works fine, but not without the www.

    Any help be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Mark Chapman
