This is how rice is cultivated!

In the upper reaches of the Himalayas, rice is cultivated in the fields that are levelled beches like steps in the hills. It is step cultivation. The water is drawn from the small falls and tiny rivulets desending from the hills. The holdings are small and generally cater just to the needs of the family. If one looks at these fields one gets an impression of looking at a painting on a drawing sheet.
