Announcing: Keg2Smug: Migrate your photos from Kodak Easyshare Gallery to Smugmug

aakashaakash Registered Users Posts: 6 Big grins
Greetings Dgrinners,

I recently switched from Kodak Easyshare Gallery to Smugmug. To ease the transition, I've written a small command-line application called Keg2Smug to automatically migrate photo albums from Kodak Gallery to Smugmug.

Keg2Smug can migrate all your photo albums, or the ones you choose. You can also choose to migrate or skip the album descriptions and photo captions.

Keg2Smug requires Windows 2000 or higher, and .Net Framework 2.0 or higher installed. It can be downloaded at http://del.icious.info/software/keg2smug

Please send me feedback and bug reports.

    Hey Aakash:

    From Keg2Smug's FAQ:
Q: Why must I be a Kodak Easyshare Gallery premier member?
A: Only premier members can download the high-resolution copy of their photos from Kodak Easyshare Gallery.

Tricky. But that still doesn't give you an API or anything, right? Are you just scraping web pages to get the download links?

That's correct. Kodak Gallery does not expose any API. I have to scrape their pages to get the links to the pictures. I could get the low-res pictures for non-premier members, but that doesnt sound very useful.

Migration tool to switch from Kodak Gallery to Smug Mug?
I'm new, the question is probably old -- but I tried the keg2smug & got a error message from "windows". Anyone have a tried & true method? Preferrably easy?
    Thanks!

    keg2smug author
I've had similar difficulties with the tool back in October and spoke with the author to try and debug it. Unfortunately he must be fairly busy because that was the last time I heard back from him. Anyone else have better luck?

Keg2Smug updated! and apologies for the delays...
    Keg2Smug users,

My apologies. I've been travelling a lot for the last few months, and unfortunately, maintaining Keg2Smug was the last thing on my mind. I sincerely apologize.

The good news is that I've updated Keg2Smug to work with the new Kodak login/image download changes. Meanwhile, I've also set up a new website for myself, and I moved the Keg2Smug pages there as well.

You can get the updated version of Keg2Smug from http://del.icious.info/software/keg2smug. Please feel free to leave comments on that page as well if Keg2Smug is not working for you, and I promise to debug it promptly. You may also email me directly - my email address is aakash.kambuj+keg2smug AT gmail.com

Hi Aakash the link for keg2smug is no longer working: http://del.icious.info/software/keg2smug. Is the program no longer available? I've removed it from the Hacks/Apps page on the wiki. If you've got a new link or get that one working again please let me know and I'll add it back to the wiki.

    Thanks!
