This wolf(?) spider in a vase happily poses for my camera so I take the opportunity to do some image stackings. Stacking varies from 6-14 images each, except the 1st one.

1. The wide shot.

2. This one must be a male because of the size of his pedipalps.

3. Check out those pedipalps. Looks like he's holding a couple rings.

4. Close up top view.

5. Can't ignore the impressive fangs behind those pedipalps.

Wonderful series- lovely stacks. Never seen those circular bits on the male's palps before- interesting spider.

Cuong I was laughing to myself because this Spider looks like it's got a little set of handcuffs on rolleyes1.gif

I've never seen such a sight either, I see Brian hasn't either.
Is this common in the spiders in your area, to have those rings?

Very intersting shots Cuong.....thanks for sharing thumb.gif .... Skippy :D

It's the 1st time seeing such a spectacle for me too. In fact, I didn't even know what those appendages are called till I did some searching online. Male spiders use their uniquely developed palps to deliver sperm to the female's sperm receptacles. Both body segments of this guy were about 2cm long. He was a sizable specimen so I didn't even need the extension tubes on my 100mm macro lens.
