Batch Geocoding without data from GPS receiver

I have tons of photo's without geocoding, but many are from the same place. It doesn't appear there's anyway to batch geocode using the SmugMug tools. Doing it one at a time, given the system delays, is time prohibitive.

Are there any tools that allow one to select a set of photos, enter a location, see it on a map, adjust if needed and then dump it into the EXIF of the selected photos?

Try GeoSetter . That should do exactly what you're looking for.

If you're on a Mac, you can use free Geotagger together with free Google Earth. Just center the view in Google Earth and drag any number of photos to Geotagger. Geotagger will pick up the current Google Earth position and put the GPS coordinates into all the photos you dragged.

Works like a champ! For the more obscure locations not in the program I use googlemaps to get a rough location and transfer it in.

I'm on a PC, but my Mac friends will be very interested in this. Thanks!

Would it not be possible to move the geocoding to the "Many Photos" section rather than "This photo"?

I think it likely many people have quite a few photos taken in roughly the same place and would like to tag them with an approximate location, having to rely on external apps (and it is not entirely simple to do that even with raw images to be published from lightroom) seems a touch silly given that the facility exists in smugmug but limited to one photo at a time.

At least you need a data logger if wanna geotag tons of photos.
