I have a 400D and the Sigma 105 and I KNOW my camera and lens are capable of such shots. It's just me that isn't at the moment.. hehehe

Thanks Ian
The first 4 shots are just the sigma 105 with no ext tubes. The last shot was taken with an MPE-65 lens but only around 2:1.

TRP - was rather pleased with the way these came out. First time I've worn an Ossie bush hat while photographing - to keep the drizzle off the camera.

Ahhhhhhh the good Ole Ozzie Bush Hat from the Land DownUnder
Bet if you look on the rim on the inside it says made in China or Taiwan
The Hawker has beautiful markings Brian, and as usual you bring out the brilliance in all the critters you shoot .... Skippy

:skippy Everyone has the right to be stupid, but some people just abuse the privilege :dgrin
Thanks Brian . I think the subjects I'm finding are a bit too small. Need to get out to a canal and try and photograph something a touch larger with a bigger face

Just to contradict your description, 1 & 2 are at ISO800, 3 & 4 are at 200 :ivar
Thanks Phil
Whoops you are right. The first 2 shots are natural light and the last 3 shots are flash.

The last two are a real treat! Wonderful captures! Was your "victim" being compliant?
Curious: what's the MWD (min. working distance) from the front element on the Sigma 105?

I've spotted what I suspect is the same Southern Hawker dragonfly in the garden three times now this year and it does seem fairly laid back as long as you are careful.
The sigma 105mm mfd is about 4.5" in front of the end of the lens body (the lens is actually recessed about 1")
