Quite a few images here in my quest to get better at macro :)

Back out in the garden, the only things about were bees and flies (honestly, the garden is nice. Nothing there really to attract the flies :) )
All were hand held shot at mostly 1/200, F7.1 - F11 and ISO 800 (couple at 200) with flash (not diffused as I don't have any form of diffuser at the moment).

Sorry there's so many of the flies further down. They were posing so I took the opportunity.

Some good shots there- bees feeding are especially hard.
In some of the shots, the flies especially, are a bit in the center- try giving bugs more room in the direction they are looking.

And back to the fly :)

Oh you got some nice ones here, I too am a centering kind of photographer, it has taken me a long time to learn to STOP doing it.

It's an easy trap to fall into and a hard habit to break.

Your doing really well IPClark I like your grass shots too clap.gif

    Thank you Phil. Appreciate it.

Would the diffuser help in bringing out more detail in the eye (they always seem to be just smooth instead of showing all the fine detail)?

I'm sure I can make one easily enough. Plastic Milk carton :)

it would help alot, preventing the bright light highlights that are reflecting back from the eyes. it burns out detail all over subject.

are you using ex tubes, to get good detail on the flys you need more magnification than you have on these fly shots.

follow brians tutorial on making coke can diffuser.

Thanks again Phil. Will go check out that tutorial now. :)

Unfortunately, I don't have tubes. Best add that to the list which currently comprises of, Super Wideangle Lens, Flash Gun, Bigger Zoom lens :). Although may have to wait a little while as we just received our notification of consultancy in work... redundancy looms. :(

hehe, Cheers to Paul too. As I was sneaking up on the flies it suddenly struck me as a good idea to get an abstract photo of the cordyline :). I've seen similar images before and thought I'd have a go.

    Glad you like them :)
