Nicely done. What technique did you use? Long shutter? Fancy lightning detection trigger?......inquiring minds want to know. :D

Were those bolts really close? or way off in the distance Christina?
That first lightning bolt is a beauty look how much more the sky is lit up.

Dunno that I'd want to be that close to water and lightning at the same time......... good captures clap.gif .... Skippy :D

    Good shooting!

Love that first one, excellent bolt, the foreground's great, and the color is fantastic!

    Thank you everyone!

I just used long shutter speeds. The storm had fairly consistent lightning so I just kept shooting. The first image was the very first bolt I captured. I like the second shot because of the reflection of the bolt in the pool.

Skippy - The lightning was just close enough to capture, but not too close. I'm a big chicken about those things. :D

You've had the best storm there is. The one that comes in close enough to shoot, but doesn't rain on you or strike too near.

I remember shooting a very active cell a year ago on a high roof top. A couple of huuuuge bolts skimmed the belly of the cloud over my head. I was thinking "If it hits right there, I'm dead. If it hits over there, I'm gonna go deaf. If it hits way over there, I'll get the shot of a lifetime. And somebody get me a fisheye!"

The best hit I managed to capture was quite distant, but lit up the whole vast cloud. In the end the storm just grazed my location. I climbed down from the roof the second the rain drops started coming in.
    Creativity's hard.

I saw that light show too! I hope you were under the roof! I like the reflection of the lightning in the pool on #3. Tripod used?

Pyry - Thank you! I totally relate to your experience.

Eia - Thanks. I was under the patio overhang. I did use a tripod and a remote.

Aaron - I try to stay away from that area. Lightning always hits there.

p27rpy - I know that feeling! This is the first time I was in the right place at the right time.

Next time I shoot lightning out back, I'm gonna have to try this. Course, first I need a pool. rolleyes1.gif
