well i tried my best to get these 2 frames, never tried BIF before.
took loads of frames for 2 half decent shots.
used 100mm macro natural light, any closer and i couldnt get them focused quick enough before they left!
anyone any ideas in shooting BIF shots?

Excellent captures Phil. They're darn hard to get still let alone flying :)

BIF makes me laugh. It reminds me of my school days when the most common insult was to call someone a Biff!. Ahh those odd school day moments :)

Did you use continuous shooting or manually hit the shutter button each time?

    Superb
Sharp, great bokeh (? not a great typest or speller), colors are nice too. I even like the flower it picked. MM

    Good ones Phil :)
I suspect to get good close BIFS you've either got to be very lucky or have a lot of patience and use a camera /tripod setup pre-focused on a popular flower. I very rarely set out to take shots of insects in flight - just sometimes take them if the opportunity arises.

Good try and good catch. I can barely deal with stationary subjects let alone BIF.
